Tun Tavern Restaurant & Brewery, Atlantic City

The first Tun Tavern opened in Philadelphia in 1685, back when T-Rexes in buckle hats still roamed. Times have changed, and so has the tavern's location; this incarnation is found in Atlantic City, where it reigns as the city's first and only brew pub. But its reputation—as a restaurant, a bar, a brewery, and even a historical entity—has only grown stronger. For example, devoted diners know that the US Marine Corps was founded at the original spot (back in 1775), just as readily as they know that the new one is a great place for Black Angus steaks, seared Ahi with Wasabi, burgers, and Philly cheesesteaks. The cuisine has earned a Best Pub Food Gold Award from Atlantic City Magazine, but for many, it's the Tun Tavern beer that keeps them coming back. The on-site brewery turns out sudsy pints of Irish red, seasonal brew, hearty stout, and much more.
