They would not allow us to use the expired Groupon so we left.

Wedge salad was decent. Steak portion was small, cold, and undercooked. Sent back, received even smaller portion. Wasn't that great for the price, probably won't eat here again.

Fried pickles are awesome. Small portions and expensive prices. But food is excellent.

This was the second time we visited restaurant ipo. The first time we ordered the bayou eggs, the fried green tomatoes, duck poppers, a sauzerac, and the juniper berry martini. The bayou eggs and fried green tomatoes were delicious, the ppppers mediocre, and the drinks, though tasty, were way too sweet. We ordered the eggs again and actually tasted something spoiled in them. The waiter handled our complaint graciously. The bacon wrapped dates were delicious especially the mole they serve with it. The gulf fish dish was slightly over cooked but very well seasoned and fresh. The duck breast was tender and juicy, but the cinamom seasoning was a little heavy. It was served on a cloyingly sweet bed of ginger mashed sweet potatoes. I skipped dessert because this mash was so sweet. I had their ginger margarita and my husband the sauzerac. The margarita had some good flavors hidden among the tons of sugar and I believe the margarita mix was not a home-made recipe (not 100% sure). The sauzerac was good, as my husband specifically asked to tone down the added sugar. Overall it's hard to give a bad review because their is some delicious food served. But it seems there is an over arching lack of sensibility and cohesiveness. If I had one suggestion-stop using so much sugar!
