Q&A with Lillo Teodosi, Executive Chef

In your own words, how would you describe your menu?
Our menu is primarily seafood-based, and both small and large plates are offered. Sharing is encouraged. Also, we feature homemade gnocchi and lobster ravioli, as well as ox-tail ravioli. Bucatini amatriciana is a must if you come for lunch. Sardine oreganato and grilled octopus lead the way to a great dinner.

What made you want to work with food? When did you first develop that passion?
I've worked in the restaurant industry since I was very young. I grew up in Rome, Italy and worked across Europe before coming to the U.S. in 1979. I opened my first restaurant in 1984 in Chicago and moved to Boca Raton in 2010.

Has your business won any awards?
Open Table 2014 Diner's Choice Award in Boca Raton. Previously my Chicago restaurant Topo Gigio won many recognitions, such as "Top Italian Restaurant" in Chicago. I was inducted into the "Accademia della Cucina Italiana" in 2003 and won I.F.M.A. awards for twenty years.

This is a neighborhood Italian restaurant, our customers become friends as they visit us two or three times a week.
