The food was amazing! It will be our "go to" restaurant when we are in Boston.

The women's bathroom needs attention- it smelled strongly of sewage and the toilet was breaking apart around the base. The wetness from leaks and the foul odor were overwhelming! New toilet needed ASAP!

Don't forget to bring your own alcohol. I recommend Efes - it's a really tasty Turkish beer that you can find at Blanchards right up the street on Harvard Ave in Allson. The grape leaves and hummus were delicious and the chicken shish kebab was great and perfectly seasoned. And if you like baklava, get it here!

Portions are large. Our table of 4 started with a shared appetizer plate; while it was good, the meals (kofte, kababs, etc) were more than enough food.

Don't get the lamb kebabs, my were very tough, over-cooked and hard to eat! Everyone else really enjoyed their main entrees. All the appetizers, cold and hot, were outstanding.

Food was good, service was excellent. Red lentil soup was delicious, nicely balanced mild flavor. the muhamara was fine, but not as interesting as the muhamara at Servan -- more bite and less cinnamon. Could be a question of personal taste. . Grilled eggplant with yogurt was tasty, but a little light on the eggplant and heavy on the yogurt. The lamb kabob was nicely grilled, with properly cooked rice, tasty red cabbage and some red onion. Our server was cordial and efficient. Enjoyed our meal!

From Our Editors

Plates of Turkish cuisine sail through the warmly lit dining room of Saray Restaurant, landing on tablecloths to dispatch kebabs, seafood, and vegetarian entrees straight to palates. The cozy den of Eastern delights has scooped up oodles of accolades with its sesame-flecked pita, including a spot on Boston magazine's Best of Boston 2008 list and praise from the Boston Globe, which called the restaurant "remarkable - and totally authentic."

Hot appetizers such as feta-spangled fried-zucchini pancakes and cold starters of stuffed grape leaves prime taste buds for Mediterranean feasts. Guests tuck into char-grilled striped bass and lamb-stuffed cabbage rolls during breaks between sword fights with kebab skewers dotted with chicken meatballs, lamb, vegetables, and cabbage. At the Boston University–area storefront, a false rooftop creates a village feel, and skillets hang invitingly behind a semicircular window.

Boston Restaurant Guide

Boston may be known for its seafood, but it also has a lot more to offer to anyone willing to venture outside of their own neighborhood for a meal. The exciting cultural variety in the city is put on display in many ethnic Boston restaurants. With the diversity of cuisine available, it is possible to travel the world by plate without ever leaving the city.

Pasta E. Pomodoro in Boston's North End offers authentic Italian dishes that cannot be found on the menus of more commercialized Italian joints. An example is Pollo Ripienoa, which is a breaded chicken breast scattered with mushrooms, asiago cheese and prosciutto and served with garlic mashed potatoes and a shiitake Marsala wine sauce. Pomodoro also serves a variety of appetizers and desserts to complete any hearty Italian meal.

Get a taste of the Mediterranean while dining in Boston with a meal at Oleana Restaurant. Located in the Inman Square neighborhood, Oleana is known for its Turkish fare. For appetizers, order the chickpea crepe with a cinnamon aioli, a speciality of the house. For entrees, the restaurant is best known for its lamb steak cooked in Turkish spices and served with a fava bean moussaka. Make sure to save room for dessert and end the meal with one of Oleana's specialty ice creams. The cocoa-rose ice cream served with date-rose truffles is a very popular choice.

A guide to dining in Boston is never complete without a seafood restaurant on the list. End the experience with cuisines from around the world with a meal at the famous Neptune Oyster in the North End. Choose from classics like New England Clam chowder or try something more unique to the area like steamed Wellfleet Littleneck clams in a sauce of wine and garlic. The Neptune Oyster is also well known for its raw bar that is always stocked with fresh shellfish and stays open well past the dinner hour.

True Boston food is a multi-ethnic blend of cuisines that locals can sample from each night. When considering what to have for dinner, be adventurous and try some of the more unusual dining options that Boston restaurants located throughout the city have to offer.
