Q&A with Ken, Tamara, Owner

In your own words, how would you describe your menu?

We have a diverse menu with all of our products made from scratch. We have cheesecake, pound cake, layered cakes, banana pudding, cupcakes, brownies and cookies. We have a variety to choose from for every tastebud.

What made you want to work with food? When did you first develop that passion?

Ken grew up making pies with his mom from the apple and pear trees in their backyard. As a child,Tamara was making desserts with her grandma and mom. Together, we have combined our passions to create Royal Cheesecake & Varieties.

Décor can say a lot about the type of food a restaurant serves. How does your décor inform or reflect your culinary practice?

We are a storefront bakery with picture windows and window seats to enjoy your dessert and watch the sun. We have high tops to enjoy your cheesecake and local brewed coffee to complement it.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

Ken and Tamara began selling our products at mall kiosks and farmers market and excited to open a new bakery in Durham. We use local products as often as we can including our fresh brewed coffee. We enjoy watching our customers expressions when they bite into our product and recapture their memory.
