Red Cedar Cafe, East Lansing

It's hard to tell what gives Red Cedar Cafe owner Angie Anderson, a Lansing native, more enjoyment: whipping up her fresh, made-from-scratch andwiches and desserts or serving them to the hungry MSU students who frequent her cozy, welcoming shop. Free WiFi, steaming cups of coffee, and mini cheesecakes inspire students, their friends, and families to linger long after they've finished a meal that might include potato-bacon soup or lobster bisque or a chicken-chipotle pressata sandwich stuffed with provolone, roasted red peppers, and chipotle aioli. Anderson also told a reporter for Capital Area Women's LifeStyle Magazine that she strives to use Michigan-grown ingredients whenever possible, and knits tiny MSU sweaters to help out-of-state ingredients feel welcome.
