Do not let this scam fool you - this meal will cost you $160 minimum! the staff is very aggressive in terms of pushing food, they aren't forthcoming with the prices like $90 for a plate of paella (with frozen seafood) and $28 for a sangria. This owner is a liar and a thief, literally, he just got arrested for stealing $20,000 in meat from a supplier. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/lauderhill/fl-sb-lauderdale-chef-steals-food-20170607-story.html

Perhaps the best Cuban Resturant that my wife and I have to ever been to. The service, atmosphere and food are second to none. Pricey, but well worth it.

If We could give it 10 stars, we would, what a wonderful experience, we were treated, at the door, by owner, Mario, who made us feel like family immediately. The waitstaff, the food, the ambience, impeccable. So looking forward to our next visit, very soon. Thank heavens for groupons or we would have never found this lovely 💎 Gem. A must try for everyone.

Very overpriced average food. The Groupon forces you to buy 2 drinks, 1 app and two dinners which costs much much more than the $70 deal. Expect to pay $30-$70 over the cost of the Groupon plus more for the tip. Dinners cost $28-$50 which is more than double other Cuban restaurants, apps $15-$20 and house wine a whopping $14 per glass. They then try and con you into purchasing "Gift Cards" buy $150 get $100 free but if you are not gullible enough they give them to you free because they aren't really a gift card but a discount for a future visit which is not something we will do. Very unpleasant evening and I;m sorry I had to give them even one star.

Complete ripoff.. Stay away!!! The lowest entree is $34.99 for chicken chunks, which at any declious Cuban cruise restaurant would be almost half the cost...it's not like you're paying for prime location or quality. Very rude fake wannabe luxury staff.

From Our Editors

It was in La Ceiba, Honduras, that Mario Flores first began associating food with family. His mother would cook for him and his siblings, and the family meals, which set the groundwork for good conversation, provided both a structure to daily life and a sense of comfort. He now hopes to emulate that same atmosphere at his own establishment, Mario's Catalina Restaurant, where he mans the kitchen.

His dishes harken back to old-world Cuba and Spain with appetizers of yucca, sides of fried plantains, and entrees of roast pork cooked in Jack Daniel's whiskey, which is a far more flavorful marinade than Jack Daniel's lukewarm water. His menu also includes "Mario's favorite:" a red snapper fillet breaded in green plantains and accompanied by lobster sauce and jumbo shrimp. Guests enjoy these dishes and a selection of wines and sangria inside the dining room, which, with its wall-to-wall paintings, softly lit lamps, shimmering chandeliers, and close tables, resembles a warm, cozy home.
