A-Kon, Fort Worth

Back in 1990, A-Kon began as a small gathering of 380 anime fans in north Texas. Since then, it has grown into an international event with more than 20,000 people from around the world to celebrate all things anime. For one weekend in Dallas, fans and cosplayers unite, showcasing their skills, meeting artists and actors, and listening to guest stars. Past guests have included professional cosplayer Yaya Han and actor Todd Haberkorn, who has appeared in everything from the Call of Duty series to Attack on Titan.

While the artist alley and various contests delight attendees during the day, the highlight of the convention comes in the form of a masquerade ball. Here, visitors can waltz in time to ballroom tunes and anime music while dressed to the nines.
