Adventure Brewing Co, Fredericksburg

Adventure Brewing Co. owners Tim Bornholtz, John Viarella, and Stan Johnson all began brewing beer in the 1990s. But it wasn't until 2010 that they joined forces and started brewing as a team. The partnership has certainly been a fruitful one: today, Adventure Brewing pours a variety of year-round, seasonal, and specialty beers at two different locations aptly named Adventure North and Adventure South. Here are a couple of the company's year-round creations:

• Stonewall Stout (5.5% ABV): This dry stout pours pitch black and has an aroma that is subtle, yet sweet and pleasantly malty. Strong flavor notes and hints of dark chocolate accompany every sip.

• Expedition IPA (6.5% ABV): This isn't just any old IPA—it utilizes a blend of citrus and white wine hop flavors, all while avoiding the hop-punch associated with many traditional IPAs.
