Honolulu Scuba Company, Honolulu

Overall, my experience with Honolulu Scuba Company was okay. The company initially claimed they no longer offered the Group Open Water Certification and would not honor the Groupon. They asked me to contact Groupon for a refund or pay $150 more to upgrade to a semi-private class. I followed up with Groupon, but they refused since the refund window had closed. After a week and a half of back-and-forth Groupon got a hold of the owner who agreed to honor the Groupon saying the staff had not been trained properly. Before and during the course I received conflicting emails about meeting dates/times. The instructor was young but knowledgeable. He mentioned early on that another instructor would take over the final dives on the following weekend. Unfortunately, they struggled to find a replacement. I was told I'd have to upgrade to a boat dive for $40 to finish out the certification or wait another month. The final dives were moved from early morning to late in the day, which was risky as I was flying out the next day. Overall, I felt the company was pretty disorganized. If I had to do it again I would prefer a more organized shop.

I will be back to this scuba shop! Fantastic time and experienced instructors.

This company was pretty unprofessional. The pool dive is in the owners backyard and was very dirty and small. The instructor was a typical scuba diver. One day is overslept by an hour and his fellow instructors had to call him repeatedly to get him awake. We were told we would get photos of the experience but never did. The training and dives were very rushed. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Anna was the best instructor I could’ve asked for. Would definitely recommend HSC for all your scuba needs!
