Before establishing Couture Cupcake Cafe, owner Cathi Volante was submerged in the world of public relations and marketing. But a desire to do something sweeter in life drew her to the world of desserts, where she now artfully designs handcrafted cakes, cupcakes, and savory pastries from the kitchen of her gourmet shop.
Their lengthy menu of collections packs in over 200 cake flavors with runway worthy names–the Jimmy Choo honors the designer's decadent styles with layers of rich French and Belgian Chocolates, and the Chanel is crafted with Madagascar vanilla bean cake and icing, and topped with a vanilla bean Plugra butter cream for a decadent vanilla flavor throughout. The 24 Carrot Cake’s velvety orange cream-cheese icing pops like its golden namesake. Couture Cupcake Cafe also whips up such delicacies as savory cakes made from lobster and caviar and crafts a line of man-centric treats including the Heavenly Swine, a soft buttermilk cake stuffed with applewood smoked bacon and finished with maple buttercream and a piece of caramelized bacon topper. The PB XXL takes chocolate and peanut butter to the next level with a whole Reese's cup baked inside and a pillow of chocolate buttercream, peanut butter buttercream and another whole Reese's cup on top. Dedicated to their customers, they will even whip up gluten-free, vegan, or organic versions of their cupcakes or crown regular treats with whipped-cream icing.
Additionally, the Kildeer and Wilmette boutique shops please sweet teeth with Groovy Smoothies in 25 flavors, custom cakes to order, and more than 600 gelato flavors at the adjoining gelato bar. The Intelligentsia coffee and espresso bar, "Froth" pours out cups of gourmet coffee and custom-blended iced teas. To keep the good karma pouring in, Couture Cupcake Cafe donates 10% of its proceeds to local churches, charities, and organizations.
