Canter's Deli started in Jersey City in 1924 before relocating to California in the early '30s. Now, its landmark LA establishment can still be found on Fairfax Avenue, and new branches have opened up in Las Vegas—a sign that, despite moving around occasionally, this much-loved delicatessen isn't going away anytime soon.

The deli's East Coast–style Reubens and hot pastramis are as popular as they've ever been, as is the classic matzo ball soup. Breakfast favorites, such as buttermilk pancakes and corned beef hash with eggs, can now be enjoyed throughout the day, offering some healthy competition to dinner entrées like the mile-high meatloaf and chopped salad. Even the hot tea and pastries are a hit—so much so that President Obama didn't order anything else when he visited LA's Canter's Deli in 2014.
