It is a cute little restaurant with fun decor. They have some amazing drink options. It is definitely a meat and potatoes kind of place, on the comfort food side. Make sure you get an order of scones and honey butter.

We were taken upstairs to the loft and left there. Finally, when a waiter came up to attend to somebody else we asked if we could get some service. She said she'd send somebody up. There were three of us and when the girl came she only brought two glasses of water. It turns out one of the waiters had asked her to take the waters up to somebody else, but she mistakenly came to us. She took our order and promised to return - didn't. Finally we flagged down somebody else and they brought my wife a diet coke and another water. a few minutes later another girl brought another diet coke (which when we tasted it was really root beer, which my wife (the only one who ordered a beverage) does NOT like. WE sat there for another 20 min. we saw two other parties come, eat and leave and still no food. We flagged down a person who came to clean up after a party that had left and he said he'd send somebody up. 5 min. later the tall guy who had seated us (and we found out had only been there a week) came up and we told him we needed out food- he went back down and shortly a girl came up and said our food would be right up. In the meantime somebody else was seated at the table next to us and they saw their waitress three times. Finally, 55 min. after our order was taken and 1:20 min after we arrived our food arrived - very cold - must have been sitting on the counter for quite some time waiting to be delivered to us. But we still did not have silverware. We pointed that out and finger picked at our dinners until somebody else came up with silverware and some straws and another huge mug of diet coke for my wife (now three mugs but one was root beer) When we finished eating - never seeing a waitress for out table the whole time we ate, but seeing a waitress come two more times to the table next to us - they finished and left and we were still sitting there somebody else was seated at the table (third party next to us) I went downstairs and found the waitress who had taken our order sitting at a a table talking and laughing with some other customers. I asked if we could get our bill. She said she'd be right up. 5 min. later she came up, but we were charged for the root beer and the diet coke, I caught her and said - whoa, we didn't order the root beer - you guys screwed up. She took the bill back downstairs and 10 min. later came back up with it with the root beer taken off - scribbled off. We then went down stairs - my wife with a recently replaced knee, and my 83-yr-old mother with bad arthritis in every joint and limping horribly bad due to horrible hip pain. When the tall guy who seated us rang up the bill, he asked us how it was, we told him how horrible the service was and kind of expected he comp something, but he just apologized several times. He didn't know how to process the bill and the groupon, and it took 10 minutes to finally get the bill and credit card finalized. By then three other groups were standing there waiting to pay. We loved the ambiance and the menu choices were enticing, but my wife said she would never come back again - so we probably won't.

From Our Editors

Located at the official landmark for Famous Porter Rockwell, Porter's Place offers homestyle food with a dose of history. Guests can sip a sarsaparilla, feast on barbecue buffalo bits, or finish off a 20-ounce porterhouse as they learn about Mormon pioneer Orrin Porter Rockwell. While the history of the man understandably snags most of the focus, the building itself has quite a past. It was built in 1915 and was originally heated by two coal and wood stoves and lots of wishful thinking. It includes a bar that dates back to 1881, a beehive clock built for the 1912 opening of Hotel Utah, and fresh food that has barely any history at all.
