My vegetables were luke warm, so I asked to have them replaced with hot ones. Evidently, the chef was not happy with the request as the vegetables came out scalding.
The stuffing on the shrimp was too mushy. Chicken francaise was very good.
When it came to dessert, I ordered grapenut custard hot with ice cream on top. The custard and the ice cream came out in separate dishes with soupy whipped cream on the custard. The custard was luke warm.
So, I sent it back to be heated so that it would be hot and asked that it be put in a bowl with the ice cream in top. It came back out in a dish as requested.. only it was still luke warm. Back it went. Finally, my dessert came out as ordered with the comment that the chef made it. It was good and not too sweet.
We have been to this restaurant several times and enjoyed ourselves. Tonight was not a good experience and the food has gone downhill from ***** to ***. It will be a long time before we return. No wonder the restaurant was only half full and then with many fully occupied hotels for the Pats game tomorrow. Too bad as it's oldest pubs/restaurants around.
