When MOA is having a special exhibition, call and ask if they have scheduled docent-led tours. We got much more out of a recent exhibit when we went with the docent.

Best kept secret is that MIA has a world-class Asian art collection -- people come here to see it but locals don't even know about it.
Allow more time than you think. There are always interesting new things to see and experience.
Give yourself lots of time.
Parking is now pay-takes cards. Arrive early if on a school day.
If you can avoid going on a Thursday night, you will have more one on one time with your favorite pieces.
Take advantage of the docent tours!
Just wander and enjoy it and the restaurant is great !!!!
The main museum is free, so leave some extra time to wonder around after visiting Mattisse. You will not get through the whole museum in one day so pick a few exhibits you want to see and plan to come back another day. It's a beautiful place with so many wonderful pieces on display, so coming back will not be hard to do.
