About A Carousel for Missoula
In 1991, cabinet maker Chuck Kaparich made a solemn promise to the Missoula City Council: "If you will give it a home, and promise no one will ever take it apart, I will build a carousel for Missoula." Chuck grew up on the carousel in his childhood home of Butte, and so when his new hometown accepted his pact, he eagerly set to work bringing that joy to a new generation. He taught a team of volunteers to carve out the prancing ponies, grimacing gargoyles, and gold-trimmed chariots, and by 1995, his dream had become a reality. In 2001, the carousel gained a new neighbor in Dragon Hollow, a fantasy playground where kids can jump, slide, and scream as they explore the belly of a wooden dragon.
