The waiter was rude, did not want to listen to me explaining my groupon voucher, Saying that since the restaurant changed ownership they weren't accepting the voucher value.

Horrible experience. I purchased this Groupon because of what was offered in the prix fixe but when we got there they did not offer alot of the selections I had read about

Was extremely disappointed that they were out of Rib Eye. We were one of the first patronize that day we got there when the doors opened 5pm Sunday. Then they would not honor the pre fixe menu stated on Groupon. Truly did not want any other entree beside the RIB EYE.

****The service was incredible, staff was attentive and explained the new menu. We made the best of the evening. We indulged in an extra bottle of wine and enjoyed the evening. Until the check. I asked that the check be explained to me to be sure that we tipped appropriately. A different waiter spoke down to me "its simple math! " he shouted. I told my husband that it was "unpleasant ". The waiter returned an took $5 off the wine. I told him that I didn't want his discount. Then I realized that I was charged gratuity twice. I payed the bill instead of being embarrassed again.

Pre-dressed salads were too gloppy - go lighter. We had the creamed spinach and broccoli rabe sides - spinach could use something. Chocolate dessert weak; not a good choice for the one chocolate option, Steak, bread, coffee (and service) were A+

The meal was very good and we enjoyed the ambiance. The cream brûlée should have been warmer. The filet, mushroom soup and shrimp cocktail were excellent.

From Our Editors

Lenny Passarelli grew up within the bustle of busy kitchens and developed a palate for decadent food at his family’s fine-dining establishment, Scotty's in Rockville Center, which the clan ran for more than 45 years. When he started his own legacy at AJ Maxwell's Steakhouse, he wanted to combine the two ingredients he'd learned to be most important to a restaurant: food and fun. In the fine-food category, Passarelli serves live Maine lobsters, dry-aged sirloin steaks, and massive porterhouses capable of feeding up to four. Attentive servers, who are trained to be sensitive to whether a gathering is a celebration or business meeting, keep the drinks flowing and the experience joyous.

The gentle glow of the overhead chandeliers reveals an intricate full-wall mosaic mural depicting ancient Roman life, which the owners discovered during the restaurant’s renovations. The mural was left behind by New York's Forum of the 12 Caesars, which was famous for being the city’s most expensive and over-the-top theme restaurant from the 1950s through the 1970s, attracting celebrities with its lush atmosphere and their pets with the promise of top-notch doggy-bag service.
