About Alfredo of Rome
A lavish outpost of the famed Roman restaurant where fettuccine alfredo was introduced in 1914, Alfredo 100 fuses Italy’s history and New York City’s panache. The eatery’s signature dish arrives with little fanfare—a golden nest of egg noodles, creamy sauce, and parmesan—allowing guests to taste fettuccine alfredo in the demure fashion it was conceived: pasta patriarch Alfredo whipped up the recipe in an effort to restore the appetite of his pregnant wife. The rest of the menu is a display of traditional Italian favorites, including caprese salad, saltimbocca, and risotto.
Situated near Central Park, Alfredo 100 pays tribute to the Big Apple's brassy past with a colorful art-deco interior filled with black-and-white pictures of New York City luminaries. Many of the stills show Italian-American icons—including Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren—connecting the two cultures more effectively than a walking bridge over the Atlantic.
