About Lively Schooner Inc

The rippling of sails. The smell of the spray. The excitement of life on the water. The aptly named Lively invites visiting crew members to experience this and more during sailing lessons, bay cruises, and oceanic excursions. Each expedition is led by Captain Andrew Mayhugh, owner of the classic '76 Willard Marine custom schooner. Capt. Mayhugh and his first mate Vanya Keyes discuss their guests' goals before raising anchor, forming trips around their particular interests. This can include a hands-on class in rigging, a deep-sea fishing trip, or a gentle cruise past Newport's celebrity homes and landmarks, to name a few.

Our trip was absolutely fantastic. Nothing could have been better. We had a great discussion on the bay, sailing, and boat culture. The captain was so nice to our young children who had a wonderful time peppering him with questions on the boat. We highly recommend this trip!!

It was exhilarating! I had never been in a sailboat before, but it was obvious that our Skipper was an excellent sailor. He was informative without being too talkative. I'm afraid that actually I talked his ear off. Thirty dollars a person is a bargain basement price. Sailing with him is worth far more.
