Sometimes after cracking open the day's shipment of ocean-fresh oysters, the owners of Murphys Oyster Bar measure the shellfish using an unconventional rubric: frosty beer bottles. At times, the oysters are nearly as long as a Corona Extra; other times, they almost reach the length of a Bud Light. Expect large portions, laid back atmosphere, efficient and friendly service. Good beer selection. There aren't too many places in Ocala to get fresh oysters, but you can here. Was there on a rainy Thursday evening around 6-7:30. There was a family with about 5 kids (no problem), some couples, and some gents at the bar - a mixed crowd of various ages. Wasn't noisy or rowdy, though there were plenty of TVs (if you're into that). We were a party of 4 "senior citizens" celebrating a birthday. We all enjoyed ourselves and the food, and would definitely return.

Seafood not fresh, the crab legs we ordered had Old Bay seasoning and paprika sprinkled on them to the point that was all you tasted, Fresh seafood needs no additives.!! Clam chowder was like out of a can. It was hard to see the crab legs for all the stuff sprinkled on them. !!! atmosphere was horrible.
