About Osek Korean Restaurant

Folks are noticing Executive chef Michael Chang's brand of healthy Korean comfort food—so much so that in 2013, Pasadena Weekly readers voted Osek Korean Restaurant the spot with the best Korean food in the city. But he's not just concerned about flavors and textures: color is important for Michael, who makes sure each dish includes the five hues traditionally associated with various organs of the body. He layers kimchi, ham, and fried eggs, stirs dumplings into spicy broths, and braises ribs until they're fall-off-the-bone tender. All of the dishes can be customized to spice preference, and the sunlit dining room with a casual atmosphere adds to the experience.

Last night was the closing night of the restaurant in Pasadena (at least that is what I understood from the waitress). The groupon was not really for two dinners. You order (and she said two main dishes and two small plates) -thinking this was what the groupon covered. We ended up paying $45 more (tax, tip and one ice tea)! The food was okay…the shrimp dish was too fishy and not good. Would not ever go back. This was my first time using a groupon---not the best.

Price is kind of steep for what you get and the side dishes are minimal. My thirteen year-old was still hungry after one appetizer and three entrée (party of three). The food tasted ok, just not very satisfying...
