Beauty and history are on display during Liftlock & The Riverboat Cruises's excursions. That's because the tours explore the Kawartha Lakes, just one component of Trent-Severn Waterway. The Central Ontario waterway's 386 kilometers of rivers, channels, and lakes are dotted with historical sites including First Nations' rock carvings and a 112-year-old lock system.
The latter in on display during cruises aboard the Island Princess III, a two-story boat featuring an enclosed lower deck and canopied upper deck. Tours depart from Peterborough Marina, then travel across Little Lake and past the Centennial Fountain and into Peterborough, home to the first traditional flood lock, as well as the Peterborough Lift Lock, which—19.8 meters above the city—stands as the world’s highest hydraulic lift lock.
