If you glance inside Jamaican Jerk Hut's storefront window and see an empty dining room, it's a good sign. It means that the weather's nice and patrons have flocked to the outdoor dining area out back, which?next to the traditional Jamaican cuisine?is the restaurant's biggest draw. Alongside trees and blooming flowers, the bright picnic tables here create a red, yellow, and green color scheme. Candlelit pathways and soft reggae music complete the ambiance: a small, 60-seat slice of Jamaica, the perfect place to bite into a juicy piece of chicken.
The chefs here remain true to the traditional Jamaican methods for preparing jerk chicken, cooking the meat over an open charcoal oven. Before this step, though, they rub on homemade seasoning that results in tangy, spicy, and smoky flavors. Some of their other favorite dishes include oxtail stew and goat curry, which pair perfectly with house-made juices. They also bake whole cakes from scratch for larger groups and elephants who can prove it's their birthday.
