Wear long sweatpants, use the wall for balance until you can do it on your own, use the ropes to hang onto your feet if you can't get your hands down that far, talk to your teacher after your first class (my teacher was Titus) to get more tips on improving your performance.

Make sure to bring a large water bottle, towel, and mat to the yoga studio. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water beforehand - this was my first experience doing hot yoga, and I have never sweat so much in my life!
