Yes, food was excellent, the older woman server was RUDE, does not like use of Groupon. Your food is very expensive. Almost 55.00 for 2 pasta dishes and 2 houseq salads and 2 coffee.

Don't act so disappointed when someone comes in with a Groupon. Remember you put the Groupon out there.

We were very disappointed in the quality of the food! Service was fine. The linquini with pesto and shrimp... pesto good - shrimp a little over cooked but overall good. The chicken marsala was absolutely AWEFUL! Tasted like it was cooked in margarine or some sort of very 'oily' oil, capers were tasteless and the lemon .. tasted like it was bottled or fake..the chicken breast itself was flavorless and dry (I wouldn't even give it to my dog when we got home) and the stuffed zuchini was a mess of tasteless mashed mush! Quality of ingredients VERY POOR!! It was a Saturday night and it was virtually empty and the decor is depressing. If this restaurant is going to survive, much less thrive - new talent or at least trained talent needs to be in the kitchen and QUALITY ingredients used. We spent an additional $40 for that meal and walked away disappointed and hungry! If the food was fantastik who would care about decor.. except for our very nice waitress there seemed to be a palor over the place. Sorry I couldn't give a glowing review.. would liked to since it's so close to home. Hope things improve..

Although it seemed a bit run down when we pulled up to the curb, the family owned feeling inside was warm and friendly.

Move into the heart of the Hill. The food and service is excellent! A Different atmosphere in the middle of the Hill would make this restaurant the best on the Hill!

The food is terrific but the smell (mildew? Whatever it is, it's really sour) in the restaurant is off-putting. If we hadn't bought the Groupon, we would have walked out before even being seated. Maybe it's in the HVAC, or maybe the place just needs a deep-cleaning. The decor looks to be 50 or more years old, which is cool in its own way, but if it's harboring mildew and bacteria, maybe it's time to replace some of it.

From Our Editors

After leaving his hometown of Salemi in Sicily, restaurant proprietor Baldo Gandolfo began dazzling locals with mouthwatering Italian recipes honed through four decades. Baldo's wife, Madda, welcomes guests on their arrival to the mirror- and artwork-flecked dining space, and Baldo's sister Rita keeps a generous supply of saucy pastas, rich veal, and succulent chicken dishes flowing from the kitchen. Diners sit down to sup at linen-cloaked tables in the floral-wallpapered dining area and toast to a satisfying meal over glasses of espresso and flavorful Italian wines. In addition to dishing out hearty entrees and gelato-tinged desserts to families and friends, Da Baldo's provisions larger gatherings with a private banquet space capable of comfortably fitting 90 people or 60 Shriner cars.
