It is a pretty spot but... The food is ok, came out barely lukewarm and wasn't overly exciting. We had the lobster half, Argentinian shrimp and meatballs as appetizers and the filet, scallops and short ribs as our main meal. The meatballs had hardly any flavor, the otherwise tasty lobster was on a brown sauce that would have been more fitting for the meatballs and the Argentinian shrimp were bland. The short ribs were quite dry and the main meal of scallops contained three small pieces. The best was the filet in portion and taste. We ordered a bottle of Malbec Coleccion Privada, a bottle that retails for as low as $8.99. A typical restaurant mark-up for a bottle of wine is up to 3 times the retail price, I have seen it as high as 4 times in certain establishments. I did not see the wine list and the shocker came with the bill which was $75/bottle!! We had two. $150 for two bottles of $9 wine in addition to a mediocre meal. Also, the Groupon included two appetizers and two main meals, MP items extra and the charcuterie plate extra which is fine but when we got there, we were informed that we could only pick dishes up to $30 in value on the mains. I think that should be disclosed up front, in the small print (or big for that matter) when a Groupon is offered?

Our experience in the restaurant was wonderful. Great food, exceptional service. However, our next visit was extremely disappointing. We planned a party on the 360 Rooftop. Signed a contract for two cabanas ($250 minimum per cabana) and pre-ordered all the food. Upon arrival (party of 15) we were informed that our contract had been lost. They were not prepared for our party & we were not allowed to have the same food (different food available for pre-order-not on menu). Server was nice but very overwhelmed. Food ordered off menu took 45min to an hour. Some burgers were RAW, some were burnt. Some food never arrived. In the end we were overcharged for 1 set of appetizers and 3 dinners. I emailed the Rooftop manager as well as the general manager. They offered $75 credit for next visit. I wrote back stating the offer would be nice for the loss of contract, change of food and bad service, but I needed a refund for the fraudulent charges. No response yet. This was in March.

From Our Editors

Castile Restaurant takes its name from a historical region of Spain. This Iberian heritage is reflected in a menu filled with rich wines, chorizo omelets, and fresh seafood tapas. Craft caipirinha and sangria cocktails pair perfectly with small plates of smoked crispy chicharróns and cornmeal-crusted calamari, while entrees of harissa grilled culotte steak and chipotle-crema yellowfin tuna satisfy appetites for inventive European-fusion fare.

Castile's classy yet streamlined interior complements the cosmopolitan nature of the cuisine, with smooth slate walls and copper-colored booth seating bathed in warm light from chandeliers overhead. From the open-air 360° Rooftop bar, you can marvel at the bright lights of downtown St. Pete, take in a gorgeous view of the Gulf of Mexico, and contemplate the 113.8 million annual tons of shipping hauled on the nearby Intracoastal Waterway from their second story patio.
