$6 for entry onto the island. Free parking though. Plenty of spaces and short walk to the main gate. Lots to do. Enough for a whole day. Plenty of shaded spots to lounge around. Places to get food but we brought our own. Get your hand stamped and you can re-enter after eating your (brought from home) lunch at a shady picnic table outside the gate. Get a locker for your things!! $10 for a small and you get $2 back when you return the key. Bring water shoes (not allowed on slides though). Bring water bottles. Bring sun block. Watch your head on the single water slides (I bumped my head). MY ONLY two critiques are 1) the staff need to be more friendly. GREET the customers! Eye contact. SMILE! I stood right in front of the table. One girl looking at me and I had to say hello first, I had questions, explained it was my first time there, and was directed to a boy next to her at the "voucher redeeming" table who was busy with an electronic device to look up and say hello. Seemed bored. No facial expression otherwise. First impressions are very important. SMILE. GREET. Answer questions appropriately! I was misdirected TWICE by different staff members. I had simple questions (one was even how I get a locker and was MISDIRECTED! ) that they couldn't answer but sent me in the wrong direction and I had to continue "looking for the right person" to ask. One phrase I remember was, "Who told you to ask me??" Person A sent me to Person B who sent me to person C for the same simple question. The kids (and yes, they are teenagers but kids still) running the slides weren't paying too much attention to things it seemed. Didn't care. Seemed bored. And, I also sent an e-mail three days prior with the SAME simple questions I ended up having to ask in person and I literally received a reply while I was already at the park. Too late. And, yes, when I bumped my head I even said in front of a life guard that I hit my head and that it hurt! No reply whatsoever. Completely oblivious. And, 2) there was MOLD on the wall in the ladies bathroom. The stall on the far right. Looks like something "splattered" onto the wall and was left to sit. Alas, mold.

This was so much fun especially for parents of teens they have a nice wave pool and lazy river and if you must get on the rides with ur insistent teens the rides are not to bad.

1) Bring water shoes (you can't wear them on the slides but can wear them everywhere else---the concrete gets HOT!) 2) Bring two bottles of water with you. 3) It's free parking but $6 to get a pass onto the island. 4) Bring your own lunch. You can get your hand stamped, eat in a shaded picnic area and re-enter the park. 5) RENT A LOCKER!! You will thank me later. $10 (and you get $2 back when you return the key). To just keep your items safe and secure while you're having fun. 6) Bring the sunblock. 7) Watch your head on the slides! I bumped mine.

From Our Editors

On Jekyll Island, waves crash along the 10 miles of beaches as kayaks cut through the salty water, cyclists roll over 20 miles of paved trails, and riders on horseback clop through hushed maritime forests. All visitors to the barrier island can partake in myriad active, relaxing, or educational activities while immersed in its lush natural landscapes, where dunes give way to beaches filled with hermit crabs and shell collecting and where birders clutch binoculars to examine avian habitats and decode gulls' sign language. The island's public golf club, open since 1898, hosts two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course on manicured greens and rolling terrain. In the summer, the Summer Waves Water Park provides a cool escape from the heat with six slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river. For indoor adventurers, exhibits at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center illuminate the lives of the shelled reptiles, and a museum preserves relics of the wealthy families who used the island as their gilded getaway and a place to bury their expired money. The Jekyll Island Authority oversees all conservation and development on the idyllic island, existing to continually improve the park and its amenities.
