The food "seems" to be expensive, but it is colorful, full of various spices, of excellent variety, nicely labeled (though not so well on pricing), and a culinary step into another culture. There are curries, pastes, etc. in small jars that are available, as well as the frozen selections that I picked from. I wanted vegan selections, and got my Groupon's worth easily. Would have bought more, except several items had clarified butter in them, so I couldn't get those.

Knowing what you like helps. Even if you don't know the name if you explain what you like and how you like it they are overly eager to make you happy!

This was not what I was expecting, hence it is a qualified endorsement. Let me start by saying so far the food has been absolutely delicious and I plan on going again. But you only have a choice of frozen food and sauces in zip lock bags that was made by them, not a choice of anything. Some of the items need rice added. Even though it seems a bit pricey for the frozen meals, the prices are in line with Trader Joes stuff, and tastes much better. Also the store has weird hours, and I can only go since I am retired and can go there during store hours.

What a wonderful owner!! He helped tell me about my food I was taking out. Made me feel just like I was back in India even though he is from Nepal the kind service and wonderful food was very much the same. The resturant is downtown Salem and I will eat there!

The two people who were working there at the time (I think the owners) were very welcoming and informative, helping me pick out the best frozen food (the Groupon was for this) to meet my tastes. I will go back.

From Our Editors

The scents of cooking Indian sauces flood Happy Curry Foods, hinting at the turmeric, herbs, and peppers that cook down into a range of curries. On the brimming shelves, fresh or frozen chutneys wait to cut that powerful spice alongside a selection of dal, and rice to squeegee up excess sauce or slip easily into an envelope to buy blackmail photos from a duck. Happy Curry Foods’ offerings aren’t all ingredients, however—its restaurant on Church Street befriends palates with flavorful curry noodles masala, hand-tossed flatbreads, and tender chicken breast dressed with multiple chutneys.
