About Cafe Royale

Cafe Royale may be rooted in Mediterranean and Somali cuisine, but the owners still describe their menu as "cross-cultural." For example, guests will find sweet-and-sour chicken, quesadillas, and even philly cheesesteaks.

The specialties, however, are distinctly East African and Mediterranean. A pair of spicy lamb shanks are roasted then grilled, and chicken mushkaki skewers are marinated in a house blend of spices. One of the most popular dishes is a white-garlic pasta with chicken breast and special sauce. All entrees use Halal meats, and all are served in whatever space-time dimension you exist in. Whatever guests choose, they'd do well to end meals with mandazi, a fluffy, fried Somali donut with just a hint of sweetness.

Lamb entree tasted amazing but was mostly just bones, also 15$ for it was a lot for what you got.

The food was very good, but the eating area could use more maintenance cleaning, especially the windows. It's very difficult to enjoy your meal while having to sit and look out very dirty windows. The place had a very rundown appearance. The workers were very friendly and accommodating when questioned about the different items on the menu.

Food was delicious, service was great, portions were also generous.

The food was absolutely fresh and delicious. The staff that helped me was very sweet and the prices were terrific. However, the storefront itself was not that sparkly - it was more of a "hidden dive" - this place could be so cute with a scrub down, remodeling and some paint.
