About Al Boccalino

Growing up in the Italian port town of Brindisi, Luigi DeNunzio frequented the colorful outdoor markets with his father. Surrounded by stalls bursting with local produce, meat, fish, and dairy, Luigi discovered his love of rustic cuisine composed from the freshest regional ingredients. After immigrating to Seattle in 1977, Luigi amassed experience in both cooking and business while working at a handful of the city's Italian restaurants. In 1989, he opened Al Boccalino, where tables covered in white linen host plates of hearty Italian fare. Since then, Luigi has expanded his oeuvre to include cooking classes as well as a second, more casual eatery, Café Bengodi.

The experience and food was fantastic. However there were a ton of unexpected added costs including mandatory 20% tip, and extremely expensive alcohol ($12 for one drink). So the amount we had to pay on top of the groupon was so much that I dont feel like we really saved any money. However the lady who taught the class made it fun, and the food was delicious.

We had an excellent time! The class was casual and incredibly informative. Everything made was delicious and wasn't hard to make. The class size was perfect and allowed everyone to have an opportunity to help out. Once the food was completed, we all gathered around and ate at the table. The night ended with an amazing meal and great conversation.

My husband and I enjoyed the cooking class and the feast after. The food was fresh and delicious The chef was engaging and knowledgeable. She gave a lot of good tips that we could implement at home. It was overall a very good time.

Great cooking experience. Rosanna did an excellent job explaining the ingredients and reinforcing the simplicity of italian cooking. Would definitely do it again.
