About Lunchbox Laboratory - Seattle

In 2011, John Schmidt’s Neighborhood Grills and Arnold Shain started the Lunchbox Laboratory by opening a 5,000 square foot location in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. Here they started out with a full bar with eclectic cocktails that would match the uncommon burger and shake recipes that they would come to be known for.

Since 2011 classically trained chefs continue to strive to uphold the standards of excellence that have brought continued success. They have built on the success of the “As Seen On TV Dork burger”, the “Burger of the Gods”, the “Astronauts Mimosa” and all of their fantastic shakes with items such as: “Buffalo Chicken Roll-Ups”, “Goldfish Mac and Cheese” and the “Drunken Elvis” liquor-infused shake. They have also been able to bring that same MacGyver attitude and style to their daily happy hour and private party menu.

Today, Lunchbox Laboratory continues to be a nationally recognized culinary force. With the South Lake Union, Bellevue, and Gig Harbor, two Redmond locations and more planned on the horizon, they will continue to bring the “best burgers and shakes” for years to come!

Flavors on the food were pretty great. The Alibaba burger bun was I think over toasted but still tasted great. The only downside is that I'm almost certain they overcharged us using the groupon. Our meal consisted of a Tear Jerker burger $14.95 and the Alibaba $15.95. After tax (11% estimated) should be ~ $3.40 for a total $34.30. The Groupon was for $27 off. Leaving a total of $7.30 but we were told we we had a $11.04 to cover. We asked for an explanation and was told that tax was applied before groupon discount but was not given an itemized receipt to explain the additional $4 cost. We enjoyed our food but not sure if we'll come back because of the odd experience.

Arrived to pick up our take out order and was told they hadn’t placed it yet, it was for two salads. Waited another 15 minutes. Got home to discover they didn’t include salad dressing for the chop chop salad but several packets of ketchup instead!
