What a wonderful restaurant! I was looking for a good German restaurant in LA for a loooong time. I wasn't sure if this place is really German because it's called Swiss Chef Restaurant, but I'm so glad that I bought a voucher from Groupon and tried the restaurant. Otherwise, I wouldn't have know this place. I felt like I was in Germany and had good local German food with live music. I would like to go back there and try everything they have!

The service was great and I love that the chef and owner greets every guest and gets out there to sing a few songs. Great place for family celebrations and all of the food is very good.

We felt the texture of the sausages were too soft, the sauerkraut and red cabbage were overcooked for our tastes. The service was outstanding!

They switched the offer of what they'd serve you with the coupon I purchased on Groupon. They stated it was expired but that is not what my coupon said. I wouldn't have bought the combination of dishes they were offering (soup or salad, 2 sausages served with excellent German potato salad, mushy red cabbage, over cooked spinac and carrots and a frozen cappuccino dessert. I was expecting $12 cocktails, mozzarella sticks & a shrimp appetizer followed by a trio of pasta an gnocchi. The ambience is Swiss-cute, the people are fabulous and friendly. We went for my birthday and the chef came out and played accordion while everyone sang. That redeemed our no so great eating experience. I love the people and place but will not return because I have learned I am a California Fresh diner not an old schooled Swiss diner. Beer was $7.50, soda $3.00, appetizer of calamari $14.00. With tax and tip we paid an extra $30 on top of our Groupon...so in our case it wasn't a good deal.

Somehow provide free parking or let people know they can street park. Valet style is not good

From Our Editors

For more than four decades, chef Ulrich Huegli—or Ueli, as he's often known—has been crafting Swiss-inflected cuisine in a variety of California restaurants. At his latest culinary home, Swiss Chef Restaurant, he lightly breads veal for wienerschnitzel, and grills hearty veal bratwurst, among other traditional alpine specialties. Some of his entrées range further afield: steaming bowls of Hungarian goulash brim with stewed meat, noodles and vegetables, and pastas such as gnocchi and rigatoni bolognese add Italian flair, much like nicknaming the entire kitchen staff “Flavio.” Frosty mugs of international beers—such as Erdinger and Bitburger—issue from the full-service bar, which also serves wines and cocktails.
