By the staff's estimation, Saaz Restaurant & Lounge is Vancouver Island's only source of dosas. Crispy and airy, a dosa is essentially a South Indian crepe, made of lentil and rice flours and served alongside flavorful coconut chutney. It's not so surprising that Saaz would be the only local source. Authenticity is the restaurant's calling card. Chefs even create their very own spice blend—another Saaz exclusive—toasting and grinding cloves, turmeric, coriander, and other fragrant herbs in signature ratios that they've perfected over the years.
Once they've blended their spices, chefs generation-spanning recipes to zero in on authentic Indian cuisine. The results? Decadently creamy butter chicken, show-stopping goat curry, and succulent beef short ribs that inspire nostalgia and repeat visits. They also curate an extensive wine list, as well as a special tasting menu. Combined with an elegantly cozy environment, this cuisine makes Saaz a real hot spot for dates, family dinners, and outings of discerning foodies.
