About Vincent Hill Station
Forged in the late 1800s by the westward rush for gold and land, the area known as Vincent's Gap touted modest accommodations by the 1930s, including a train depot, gas station, and ranch. But by the time the Watt family acquired a land grant there in 1984, the remains of the town consisted of little more than a shuttered café, above which a rusty sign read, "Antiques."
As the family began excavating the structure, they were struck by the idea to revive the business, and in 1985, they opened Vincent Hill Station, which they had built on the same floor plan as the old café.
Now, after subsequent expansions, the restaurant features a dining room that feels like a cozy supper club, a banquet room, a robust wine cellar, a large patio, and a saloon. With a rustic ambiance reminiscent of Pacific-bound passages by train, it serves classic American comfort food with a flourish, such as king salmon in a vermouth sauce and tri-tip bordelaise.
