Crapes were over done. And could not get them with fresh fruit and no sugar sauce

The hostess was wonderful, however, the server was not on her game as it took forever to have our order taken and then the food was delivered in stages. The food taste and quality was less than stellar too, including freshly brewed decaf that did not taste like coffee at all. I have had other visits that were good, but this one was way off the mark.

Olde North has been around seems like forever. It was a favorite place to go in my teens and 20s with friends for a good breakfast. Over the years I have returned with family and friends for lunch and dinner as well as breakfast. Food is great and it's just a cozy relaxing atmosphere.

I'm sure the rest of the menu is equally good, but Ive never made it past the Swedish pancakes/crepes! They are brimming with Lingonberries and topped with powdered sugar and sour cream, which puts a tang in the sweetness.

Food was decent. Service was good. It was kind of pricey for breakfast and thought being charged 75 cents for my kids to share was ridiculous.

From Our Editors

Boston's Old North Church is famous for being the site of the "One if by land, and two if by sea" signal that announced the English arrival during the Revolutionary War. If only everyone had sat down for a plate of blueberry pancakes, the whole thing might have been averted. Luckily, a Chicagoland building modeled after that famous locale stands ready to remedy that oversight. Despite its grand inspiration, the Olde North Pancake House feels more like a friend's living room than a historic church. Wood paneled walls enclose the cozy space, and a brick fireplace warms visitors as they sip the restaurant's signature coffee and dig into hearty comfort food.

True to its name, the Olde North Pancake House specializes in flavorful hotcakes. Those breakfast staples are cooked up from special buttermilk batter, which is poured onto the griddle on its own or filled with ingredients ranging from sweet blueberries to crunchy pecans. Other morning fare arrives in the form of delicate, jelly-filled crepes, or fresh biscuits topped with homemade sausage gravy. As the day goes on, the cooks shift their attention to lunch, serving half-pound burgers and soups. Dinner, meanwhile, brings all-you-can eat shrimp, steaks, and a special fish fry on Fridays.
