Garden Grill Cafe, Wichita

Chef Miguel Larcher is no stranger to vegan food—his former restaurant, d'Sozo, catered to Wichita's meat-free masses for years before its closing. But now he's settled in between Garden Grill Cafe's high ceilings and earth-colored floor tiles, where he serves up a tummy-filling menu of vegan delicacies. Though the menu's dishes are free of animal products, they don't lack for flavor: tofu, vegan cheese, mushrooms, and vegetables pack pizzas and sandwiches with enough protein for man to triumph when plants inevitably attempt to take over Earth. Chef Larcher's most beloved dishes include the sweet avocado sandwich and the mediterranean grilled portobello, which KMUW praised for being "big and hearty and delicious."
