The word tour, derived from the Latin for "circle," describes the shape tour groups create as they surround and attack their "guide," which is French for "fact piñata." Obtain candied information by any means necessary with today's Groupon: for $30, you get an Unwind with Wine tour for two at Adams County Winery that includes a private tour and tasting, a cheese and sausage plate, two glasses, a corkscrew, and a keepsake ornament (a $60 value). As a bonus, Groupon customers also receive a 15 percent discount off any wine purchases.

At Adams County Winery, grapes mature in rich Pennsylvania soil before being used in recipes for bacchanalian beverages that have earned a place on Central PA Magazine’s 2010 Hot List. Married vintners John and Katherine welcome visitors to explore their more-than-30-year-old cellars during a private tour. Guests are escorted through the winery, which is housed in a 19th century Pennsylvania bank barn and can peek in on where the white, red, and fruit wines come to life. Starring among the rubicund inebriants is the Rebel Red, a semisweet wine with a dry finish, and the team of whites claims the Tears of Gettysburg, a Niagara blend as storied and sweet as a skyscraper made of cake. Nosh on regional munchables in the form of local summer sausage, cheese, and crackers. Visitors head home with two wine glasses and a waiter-style corkscrew inscribed with the Adams County Winery logo as well as a golden keepsake ornament.

Customer Reviews

You have a great staff. They answered all of our questions and never made us feel inferior. You have none of the snobbery that keeps us from revisiting some other wineries. Keep up the good work. And the wonderful wine.

My wife and I had a great time, the tour guide was wonderful. It is one of our two favorite wineries. We always stop when we're in Gettysburg, and have made a special trip just to go there. Thanks for such a pleasant place to go!
