What You'll Get
Canvas has long been the preferred surface for artistic expression, as it holds up to paint better than paper and twitches less than sleeping friends' faces. Perfect your technique with today's Groupon at the Art House in Southlake. Choose between the following options:
* For $12, you get a one-hour canvas-painting workshop (a $25 value).
* For $20, you get two one-hour canvas-painting workshops (a $50 value).
Degreed instructors at the Art House equip students of all ages with knowledge to infuse canvases with color, basing their teachings on the work of master painters. The learning center divides classes by age group, though groups often share monthly topics that combine study of a master and a subject, such as Van Gogh–like night skies or Escheresque paradoxes. Students work on still-life paintings in the style of Picasso in September or Paul Cézanne in October, and Franz Marc-inspired horses leap and play across canvases in November workshops. The December syllabus draws inspiration from chilly climates to re-create winter landscapes similar to Grandma Moses, as opposed to snow sculptures that invariably come to life and start marrying people at random. Classes take place the first week of each month at the following times:
* Ages 3 to 6: Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon
* Ages 7 to 12: Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
* Ages 11 to teen: Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
* Adults: Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
* All Ages: Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

About Art House
Since 2000, Art House has kindled creativity and a love of history by offering museum-quality art classes for budding Picassos aged three through adult. Inside each location, degreed artist-teachers helm classes year-round, guiding students through a structured curriculum in everything from drawing and painting to sculpting. The teachers combine lessons in artistic techniques with a study of art history in order to form a well-rounded educational experience that keeps kids from accidentally painting a self-portrait that looks exactly like Van Gogh’s. Art House also brings art-loving youths together in camps, workshops, and private parties.
