Had the Big Boy plate with corn, Mac and cheese, potato salad and roll. Somehow I ate the entire thing and can honestly say everything was outstanding. Will definitely return!

Food is really good, not salty, prices are reasonable, family oriented, and definitely will come back to try other menu items.

About Backyard BBQ & Cafe

Backyard BBQ & Cafe is more than just a family restaurant: it's a time capsule of antique and vintage pieces that tell a story about Tahoe's past. There's the deer and elk chandeliers from the Tahoe Tavern—a grand hotel that housed guests from 1901 to 1964, when it burned down—and up in the rafters above the bar lies the first cut of the "Big Tree," a 120-year-old Jefferson pine tree that was seen as the center (or stopping point) of Tahoe City, before it was cut down in 1994. The owner continually adds to the restaurant's historic collection, so each visit most likely shows off a new antique.

But it's not just the decor that's eclectic: Backyard BBQ & Cafe's menu aims to fill the void between fine dining and fast food with a variety of dishes, from juicy burgers and quesadillas, to tender ribs and hot omelettes.
