What You'll Get
Unlike Halloween, Sweetest Day, and Millard Fillmore’s birthday, Christmas doesn’t require kids to dress up like dead things and speak only in grunts. Celebrate a groan-free season with today’s deal: for $20, you get admission for four, plus skate rental, to the Winter Playground at Bakersfield Ice Sports Center, located on Q Street (a $40 value). This Groupon is only valid on November 26 or 27 (open 5:30 p.m.–11 p.m.), November 28 (open 12 p.m.–3 p.m.), or December 16 or 23 (open 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.).
Bakersfield Ice Sports Center offers slick-footed skaters an opportunity to beat the heat in a cool environment. Load up on cocoa while you glide to holiday music, or create a miniature masterwork fit for a snowglobe in the arts-and-crafts room. A people-moving train illustrates many of the same physical principles that lift Santa’s reindeer-powered sleigh off the ground, and after a scheduled deposition for one of the thousands of breaking and entering charges he’s facing, the real Santa Claus will make a heartwarming appearance. The facility includes a full-service pro shop stocked with apparel, equipment, and polar-bear-repelling colognes.
Three Yelpers give the venue an average of four stars.
- The ice itself is great, employees have always been nice and caring. – Blake L., Yelp
