After spending a night dreaming of steel children and living motorcycles, it takes a superbly beaned brew to usher the brain back into reality. Escape sleep’s chimeras with today's Groupon: for $9, you get $20 worth of French-pressed brews, fresh grounds, and more from Chazzano Coffee Roasters and Cafe in Ferndale. At the cafe, you can redeem your Groupon for a $20 gift card to use on in-store purchases.

With a variety of global beans, caffeine-claimers can make several trips to Chazzano without drinking the same cup of joe. The cafe's French Press and vacuum-siphoned brewing methods produce a flavorful cup every time, allowing water and grounds to frolic and prosper together before separating the delicious liquid from the grounds. Replace your office sludge with a crisp cup of vacuum-siphoned coffee ($2.50). The airy foam on the cafe breve ($2.75 for large) playfully hides the stimulating coffee underneath, while groggy Cro-Magnons waking up from a frozen 28,000-year slumber could use a java jolt from Chazzano's double espresso ($2.12).

Those wishing they could abduct one or two of Chazzano's eclectic array of blends for personal consumption can purchase a bag of whole-bean coffee or grounds for coffee or espresso. Try a half-pound bag of the complex Ethiopia Harrar blend ($8), which hints of blueberries, cherries, and pipe tobacco with a red-wine finish. Or pick up a one-pound bag of the Sunny Day Blend ($16), a merger of coffees from Africa and Central America that should satisfy all the coffee drinkers at a United Nations square-dance party.
