Sandwiches and burgers evoke jukebox memories, from the chicken panini’s tangy apples and creamy brie ($8.95) to crab cakes doused with chesapeake rémoulade atop a challah roll ($9.95). Chefs blacken tilapia fillets and back them up with a posse of southwestern vegetables before tucking them into fish tacos, topping concoctions with a chipotle aioli sidekick ready to round up hunger pangs or stare down stomach tumbleweeds ($13.95). Saturday and Sunday weekend brunches infuse the menu with tastes to wake the dawn, such as the dulce de leche french toast, sweetly stuffed with caramel spread ($9.95).
deLux Diner & Lounge worked with interior designer Helen Reed Hayes to dish up a modern take on diner décor, with oversize murals of diner signs towering above half-circle booths, an upstairs lounge complete with a curvaceous concrete bar, and a holographic display of milkshakes throughout the ages. Ceiling-to-floor windows illumine the downstairs dining area, and colorful, modern pendant lights and the neon glow from cutout ceiling installations burns with updated ambiance upstairs.
