EgoPo, a repertory theater troupe that breathes new life into classic plays, has garnered four Barrymore Award nominations during its five years in Philadelphia. A Pulitzer Prize–winning tale of hope and survival, The Diary of Anne Frank follows two families that retreat to a tiny attic to escape the Nazis that roam the streets. EgoPo will present Wendy Kesselman’s gritty new adaptation of the play to kick off their yearlong Festival of Jewish Theater. Filled with surprising real-life details from the original text, Kesselman’s script helps guests glimpse the world through the eyes and x-ray specs of the young diary writer. Performed in the intimate confines of the Prince Music Theater, the production brims with truthful staging that epitomizes Shakespeare’s dying plea to “keep it real.”

Customer Reviews

The production was great!! Having seen versions of Anne Frank before, this was something very different and personal. It was a "first hand" look into what life was like in the Annex. The performers were amazing, highly recommended!!
