A 2015 Bib Gourmand selection in the esteemed Michelin Guide, Elberta Restaurant plates up a fine-dining experience without all the hoopla that typically surrounds such outings. Chef Akins Amoroso's new American cuisine is familiar, but a far cry from conventional. In fact, even the most-recognizable dishes have hints of innovation: deviled eggs are enhanced by pimento cheese and crispy shallots, Faroe Island salmon is finished with a curry mango puree, and grass-fed beef burgers are crowned with Vermont cheddar and smoked remoulade.
Perched on Flatbush Avenue's Prospect Heights and Park Slope divide, Elberta serves its food in an environment that is also a mix of traditional and inventive. Edison lighting illuminates the restaurant's speakeasy-inspired decor, punctuating an experience that has rightfully received plenty of press in recent years.
