Serving up gobs of sugary goodness, geometrically shaped Italian, and Boardwalk favorites with New York flair to the Falls Church area since 1950, Frozen Dairy Bar and Boardwalk Pizza provides a varied selection of smile-inducing treats and appetite-smothering pizzas. Have dessert first with frozen custard ($6 for a pint), which comes in vanilla, chocolate, a special flavor of the day, and more. Or dive into a meal with a Boardwalk basket of fried clam strips ($7.95). For folded Italian flavor, enter the Calzone Zone and fill your pizza-dough purse with ricotta, mozzarella, and a choice of meat ($7.50) or veggie ($6.95) topping. To dine with a group of friendly strangers or angry, vicious friends, order a large 16-inch pizza and top it with a choice of 28 toppings for a beefy, pepperoni-y, or fancifully caper-filled crowd-pleaser ($12.50, add $2 per topping). Or you can fast-track an order and grab a large specialty such as the meat lover's (pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, bacon, and ham; $21). Pair a meal with a pour from the tap, such as malty Brooklyn Lager or float-worthy Dominion Root Beer, or slurp up a malt ($4.75) on the outdoor patio.

Since the 1950s, customers have been flocking to Frozen Dairy Bar for its great frozen custard. Recently, the owners completely remodeled their dessert spot, transforming it into the restaurant known as FDB Eatery.
In the new dining room, patrons dine on on starters such as duck empanadas with cilantro cream, as well as chargrilled burgers, pizza, and filling entrees, including cabernet-braised short ribs.
It may seem like a big change, but FDB Eatery still serves up the same frozen custard that made Frozen Dessert Bar an icon, including the custard-filled milkshakes praised by The Washington Post. It's even still made fresh in the store every day in the same machine that's been used since the 1950s.
Patrons nostalgic for that time can wear their poodle skirt out to dinner or simply gaze at pictures of the original Ruth P. Eakin–designed ice cream shop on FDB Eatery's walls.
