Pad thai is so named because of its inherent softness, which is also why it's used to stuff the mattresses of the world's richest kings. Fall into a pillow of flavor with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of Thai- and Asian-inspired cuisine and drinks at Full Moon Asian Thai Restaurant in White Plains.

Full Moon Asian Thai Restaurant's owner and champion culinarian Noy Wongkiptiroch dishes up a menu of fresh Thai-inspired fusion fare in an elegant, softly lit atmosphere textured with intricate wood artwork and vibrant floral arrangements. Power lunchers can tuck in ties when munching on chicken ($8), steak ($12.50), shrimp ($10), or salmon ($12) teriyaki, soothing spicy gullets with a chilly thai iced tea or coffee ($2.50). For a starter, indulge in an appetizer of hot and sour tom yum goong soup ($6) or wrap paws around the popular curry puff, which warmly ensconces minced chicken and curried potato in a flaky, golden pastry that doubles as a post-meal pillow ($8). Full Moon's fresh pad thai ($16–$21) and pla tod, a crispy whole red snapper ($21), pacify barren bread baskets. A selection of beer, wine, and cocktails also are available, satiating parched patrons and their cotton-mouthed werewolf sidekicks.

Full Moon Asian Thai Restaurant

As its name suggests, two halves create Full Moon Asian Thai Restaurant. On one hand is a vibrant, bustling dining room that would not feel out of place in Manhattan. The sounds of lively chatter pervade the open space, hanging over rows of wooden tables where napkins stand upright on plates like swans engaged in staring contests. This electric atmosphere juxtaposes neatly with the quieter corners of the restaurant, where eyes are drawn to elaborate woodcarvings and ears perk up at the sound of water burbling across bricks and sandstones imported from Thailand.

This fusion between West and East—between fast-paced and meditative—carries over to the Zagat -rated restaurant's menu. Sweat-inducing spices strike a balance with the sweet flavors of papaya in colorful curries. Similarly, crushed peanuts and handpicked bean sprouts lend a pleasant crunch to the rice noodles of a traditional pad thai dish. Purple- and orange-tinged lamps dangle above guests as they sample the spread of Thai cuisine, giving them the appearance of tigers at a black-light rave.

Customer Reviews

The food and service at Full Moon are always excellent. We had a mixed appetizer that had 4 different items and 4 different sauces, so tasty. Our main courses were also delicious- I had the red snapper, which was fresh and crunchy. My daughter had mixed seafood in a brown sauce, which she love also. They both came with a house salad. We shared a fried banana with ice cream for dessert. Oh, their drinks are always wonderful, my favorite sangria of all time. She always has a mai tai. Go there. You don't need to enjoy T hai food to find something you'll like.
