Weenie Roast 2012 cracks open a vault of rock favorites, bending sound waves and melting faces with the sonic aplomb of Grammy winners and up-and-coming guitar shredders. Headlining alongside other household rock names is perhaps one of the most legendary acts in Pandora’s record chest: The Offspring. This SoCal quartet has put out eight albums in its career, storming airwaves with Dexter Holland’s punkish vocals, which careen between playful and urgent in such ‘90s hits as “Self Esteem” and “Come Out and Play (Keep ‘Em Separated),” as well as tracks from the band’s latest retrospective, Days Go By. Garbage also hits the stage, with frontwoman Shirley Manson rejoining her bandmates after a seven-year hiatus to rip through old tracks such as “Stupid Girl” and “I Think I’m Paranoid” between new ones from Not Your Kind of People, which Dave Simpson of the Guardian praised as “spiky, stylish pop”.”

Flogging Molly, led by Dublin-born lead singer Dave King, stirs up its fervent fan base with its frenetic live performance, mixing hellion vocals and atomizing guitars with traditional Irish fiddle, mandolin, and accordions. The band weaves this iconoclastic instrumentation into underdog anthems and bruising lyrics that suggest William Butler Yeats head-butting Johnny Rotten. Coheed and Cambria adds its conceptual flair to the lineup, unleashing a brand of progressive metal that interweaves aggressive guitar solos with the intricate plotline of a science-fiction story entitled The Amory Wars. Grammy-winning Switchfoot blends soul grooves with tight guitars for a polished sound, rounding out the roster with Canadian rock outfit Our Lady Peace, Eve 6—the masterminds behind the ’90s hit “Inside Out”—Anberlin, Paper Tongues, and Evans Blue.
