Armed with a roster of both fresh and familiar faces, the Rox mash their way into the Futures Collegiate Baseball League when the first pitch of the 2012 season is flung on June 8. Each summer, collegiate ballplayers from across the country amass in Massachusetts to give local fans a commercial-free sneak peak at the game’s future all-stars. 17-year old outfielder and Mansfield native Rhett Wiseman headlines this year’s crop of crushers, and is widely regarded as New England’s top high school prospect. Like modern-day bears that strap on roller blades before hunting, Wiseman utilizes a combination of speed and power, which figures to help land him among the top 100 picks in the upcoming MLB draft.

Campanelli Stadium’s family-friendly vibes are amplified with giveaways and promotions throughout the season. On Thursdays, fans can ditch the foul balls or hives of hornets nesting in their mitts and replace them with $2 draft beers. Kids eat for free on Mondays, and on Fridays, fireworks soar across the night sky following the final pitch.

About Brockton Rox

Visiting fans often have the same question—What is a Rox? The team's name and logo are actually tied to Brockton's history in a different sport: boxing. Legendary pugilists Rocky Marciano and "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler called Brockton their home, and since its inception, the Rox franchise has shared a fighter's spirit. The team used to K-O teams in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, until 2012, when it joined the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. There, the Rox provide a place for college ballplayers to hone their skills during the summer while their dorms molt off the previous semester's posters.
