What You’ll Do
When laying an educational groundwork for the future, you can’t do much better than STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math. Enthusiasm in these subjects can lead not only to fruitful careers, but also to world-bettering solutions, which is why many parents and teachers get kids in front of circuits as early as possible. In this 90-minute class, led by a talented KidsLab educator, participants will summit real-world engineering challenges by making, and playing with, their very own robots.
Build a Bot
Students assemble ROBOTIS’s esteemed OLLO kit—or one of its other robot-building systems—for a hands-on, up-close understanding of what makes robots, and the world, tick.
Let It Beep
Once they’re up and running, children will participate in group activities that let their bots strut their stuff.
A Scientific Souvenir
Everybody takes home a small, STEM-related gift.
ROBOTIS KidsLab and Head Instructor Yolanda Choo
KidsLab is the educational arm of ROBOTIS, whose high-end robots—including Rosie-reminiscent humanoids that can dance Gangnam Style—have adorned the pages of the New York Times, Bot Mag, and Make Zine. With experienced STEM educator Yolanda Choo as its head instructor the lab fosters a love of engineering in elementary-aged pupils by putting their little paws on cogs and wires so that they too can create wonders. The curriculum’s crown jewel is the OLLO educational robot kit, which is designed to be uniquely challenging and is now found in more than 30% of all South Korean elementary schools.
