The Scouting Report

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 20, the Billikens found themselves in a hole—or more like a crater. With just eight minutes of sand left in the arena’s enchanted hourglass, the fifth-seeded Billikens were down 16 points to North Carolina State. Not only did they close that gap, but they came back to claim a thrilling 83–80 overtime victory and advance to the next round.

That win capped off yet another impressive season for the Billikens, who finished with a 27–7 overall record and a 13–3 mark at home. Now they’ve returned to the court at Chaifetz Arena to begin the long trek back to postseason play. On a roster loaded with freshmen, veteran Billikens are expected to step up, including guard Austin Macbroom, who appeared in each of the team’s 34 games a year ago.
